Maternity - Newborn - Milestones - Families
My name is Katie, I’m 31 years old and I live in Central Bedfordshire.
I have had a love for photography for as long as I can remember. It became more than just a hobby when I started to study it in sixth form (it was a new subject at the time and I was the only one in the class!) That was in 2010 so it’s nearly been 15 years - now that makes me feel old! I then went on to study photography at Middlesex University and graduated in 2015 and after that I started working full time.
I have been specialising in Newborn photography for around 5 years - I feel like I found my niche when I attended my first Newborn posing and safety course in 2019 and I loved everything about it. I was working mostly from home - I had a small newborn studio set up in my spare room (those who were there from the very start will remember coming to my parents house!) and then when those lockdowns came around, everything changed.
Once the restrictions eased off - I began shooting outdoors, but mostly maternity and family shoots - and it was at this point I realised I loved photographing the whole journey of becoming a family. The feeling when you get a message from someone a few years later asking for photoshoot when their baby is now 4 years old and they are expecting their second child - you can’t beat it!
